What Size Bed Should You Get For Your Dog ?

A quick way to find out what size bed your dog needs is to place some newspaper on the floor and put your dog on it (or old dog bed) to measure the space you need. If this doesn't work, catch your dog when he's sleeping and measure from nose to tail. You'll have to add several inches to be sure your dog won't be hanging off the bed. How Do You Get a Dog Used To A New Bed?
Many dogs may seem reluctant to get into a new bed and give up their old one. It's not hard to get a dog used to their new dog bed. To help your dog get comfortable, use positive reinforcement, never punish them or be harsh about getting in the bed. Hide some dog treats in the bed, cuddle up with them on it and praise them. Putting toys, a familar blanket or your "dog towel" on it so it doesn't only have that new smell on it. Convince your pet that the new dog bed really is theirs and be sure to take away the old bed. Most dogs can't wait to see what's in the big box that arrived - they're sure it must be for them.
